City Centre Transport Plan
Making the city work for people, not cars
Iām a Dubliner through and through and so I really support all plans that are going to make our wonderful, vibrant and creative city even better.
The Dublin City Development Plan 2022-2028 sets out an aspiring vision for the city, with a 40% reduction in general traffic and significant increases in walking, cycling and public transport.
The Draft Dublin City Centre Transport Plan draws lessons from the response to the Covid pandemic when low traffic volumes allowed very ambitious changes to be undertaken in areas such as Capel Street, Nassau Street and along the North and South Quays.
The traffic management changes envisaged as part of this plan will reduce volumes of car traffic in the city centre, opening up more space for public transport so that it can run on time. It will provide more segregated room to make walking and cycling safer for adults and children.
It will help transform the quality of air in the city and open up new spaces with planting and public infrastructure that responds to the needs of residents, workers, and visitors to our capital city.
